District 7 includes parts of Philadelphia and Montgomery County. Senator Vincent Hughes has represented the 7^th Senatorial District since 1993.

Before becoming a member of the Pennsylvania Senate, Senator Vincent Hughes served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and as Chairman of the Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus. Vincent has been a member of the Pennsylvania Senate since his election in 1994. He has made his focus fighting for various causes, job creation and the rebuilding of neighborhoods.

Vincent has used his position as a champion for education through his service on the Board of Governors of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, the board of directors of the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency and the Cheyney University Council of Trustees. He has also been recognized both locally and nationally for his work on HIV/AIDS.
