The 43rd Senatorial district, located in Western Pennsylvania, includes parts of Allegheny County. The district also covers various Wards in the City of Pittsburgh, including Wards 4, 7, 14, 15, 16, 17, 29 and 31. Senator Jay Costa has represented the area since April 1996.

Senator Jay Costa, Democratic Leader of the Pennsylvania Senate, has served the state for more than 25 years. He was elected Register of Wills for Allegheny County in 1992 having previously served as Deputy Sheriff for five years.

Since his election to the Pennsylvania Senate in April 1996, Jay has been a strong advocate for education.
