District 2 Senator Christine M. Tartaglione

The 2nd Senatorial District covers parts of North Philadelphia. Democrats maintain a significant and growing voter registration advantage in the district. Senator Christine Tartaglione has served District 2 since 1995.

Senator Christine Tartaglione, 2nd District, is a lifelong resident of Philadelphia. Prior to her role as state legislature, Tina was Assistant to Philadelphia City Councilwoman Joan Krajewski from 1986-1989. In 1989, she became Senior Executive Assistant to State Treasurer Catherine Baker Knoll.  Tina continued to serve working families in Philadelphia as Business Representative for the United Food and Commercial Workers Union, Local 1776 until she was elected to the State Senate in 1992.

 As Democratic Chair of the Labor and Industry Committee, she fights for working families and has helped to raise the minimum wage.  Her legislative agenda focuses on childcare, education, long term care, effective law enforcement, and government reform. Because of Tina’s tireless support of mental health and handicap programs, the Kennedy Foundation awarded her with the “John F. Kennedy Memorial Award.”
